Νεφελοκοκκυγία

Dr Clouds itself is a reference to the work of Aristophanes, “The Birds” and the city built in the clouds known as Nephelokokkȳgía (cloud cuckoo land). Throughout all of human history, people are motivated by the idea of the perfect city in the clouds that awaits them in the next life. However, they are in equal measure driven by the desire to return to an imagined simpler way of life, a fabled time when things were better in the past. Dr Clouds is a character who stands in loving acknowledgement of the fact that many of our deepest motivations and desires are like good-natured illusions—like images projected on a screen or imagined shapes in the sky’s cloudscape.
